History

3 GENERATIONS OF PASSION

In 1923, Cyro Sylvestre arrives in Canada directly from Napoli, Italy. Already a cyclist enthusiast, he assists his brother in the cycling business as a mechanic. In 1924, Cyro wins the Montreal Italian Cyclists Championship. We can read on the cup:

CHAMPION OF ALL ITALIAN CYCLISTS MONTREAL CYRO SYLVESTRE 100 MILE RACE OCTOBER 12, 1924 DON BY FEDERAT. CYCL. PROV. MONTREAL

In 1932, after marrying the sweet Antoinette, he opens his own business on Henri-Julien road at the corner of Gilford. After eight years, the Sylvestre Cyro Cycle Company establishes itself at 4895 Saint-Laurent Boulevard, at the corner of Saint-Joseph. The store sells, repares and rents bikes and sports equipment.

In 1948, Cyro buys a 3 storeys high building at 5584 Park Ave that will become ABC Cycles & Sports Ltée. In the beginning of the 60s, Joe, one of Cyro’s sons, joins his father. Over the years, Joe has honored his father’s passion. Today, it’s François, Joe’s son, who runs the store. Fervent cyclist, he tries to satisfy each and every client’s needs with the help of his team, following the ever-changing trends of the cycling market.
